• Abstract: The slums were an episode in the history of immigration in France between 1950 and the mid-1970s. Associative mobilisation reveals the evolution of these reactions over the course of the quarter century. These forms of associative engagement merit even more attention given that this episode forms the basis for the recent history in which associations defending immigrants have a role in the political field.
