Abstract: The attribution of Cymbalum mundi to Bonaventure des Périers has been questioned more than once: the author seeks to justify it. At the same time, he suggests that the political-religious “bad thoughts” of the author might explain the strange “omertà” he was the object of at the heart of the sodalitas of Lyonnais men of letters, his contemporaries.
