. du Moyen Âge au xviie siècle
  • Author: Nassichuk (John)
  • Abstract: François Bonade was a figure of early French humanism during the reign of Francis I. He is little known today, yet a sea of devotional and religious literature surrounds him, which has introduced us both to him and the genre of Biblical paraphrases in Latin which he practised. The text published by the humanist clerk Bonade in 1537 concerned the Epistle of Saint Paul. Its form, its elegiac distichs of the Ovidian tradition, and its direct approach to Biblical sources make it a singular work.
