Paul Léautaud, antipatriote « en dehors de la mêlée »

  • Publication type: Article from a collective work
  • Collective work:
La Grande Guerre des écrivains : études
  • Author: Kantorow (Monique)
  • Abstract: Resolutely individualist and antimilitarist, Paul Léautaud stopped reading newspapers once war had been declared. He was deeply affected by the abominations of a war which he disapproved of: the indifference that he displayed, his iconoclastic aggression, his bitter humour attacking warmongers and “patriots” translated his horror, disgust, and compassion for the suffering of victims.
