Maurice Barrès Une parole qui ne passe pas

  • Publication type: Article from a collective work
  • Collective work:
La Grande Guerre des écrivains : études
  • Author: Rambaud (Vital)
  • Abstract: Throughout the Great War, Barrès wanted to “serve”, notably through the almost daily publication of an article in the Écho de Paris seeking to boost the morale of the fighters and the country. Despite the press campaigns which he also led to improve conditions for soldiers and their families, these words, of which he had made himself the minister, were deemed less and less acceptable. Why were they rejected in this way and why was the author condemned to an “eternal purgatory”?
