L’Été 1914 de Roger Martin du Gard Le récit d’un engrenage implacable
- Publication type: Article from a collective work
- Collective work: La Grande Guerre des écrivains : études
- Author: Grange (Mireille)
- Abstract: Called up from the beginning of the war, Roger Martin du Gard was a privileged witness of it. He was interested in its causes, as well as the diplomatic machine which drove it. In the novel, we follow the tragic fate of the two Thibault brothers, while Rumelles, the diplomat, introduces us to the international “poker party” which led to the massacre of an entire civilisation.
