- Abstract: As he commented on Thucydide, nothing escaped Thibaudet of the “geometric and plastic” geometry of the two wars, marked by the extension in time and place of a “local war and a global war”. And it is as a living historian of the present, with a gnawing concern for and curiosity about the future of Europe, that he suggests making the Peloponnesian war “an ideal plateau of history”.
