- Abstract: Michel Houellebecq’s work presents a journey through the trivial. His highly prosaic and coarse writing is both a reinterpretation of realism and a reimagining of aesthetics between the trite and the provocative. His novels defamilarize our universe, make the insignificant seem essential and, in their politically incorrect margins, invite a reader to bring his own judgement to bear on the text.
