• Abstract: In the devastated world of Houellebecq’s novels, the couple of Michel and Valérie in Platforme constitutes a happy exception. Building on this example, we propose the hypothesis that love is a fundamental value in Houellebecq’s work. This article presents a thorough exploration of the theme of love as represented in Platforme which allows us to determine love’s place within the overall economy of Houellebecq’s other novels.
