La représentation interrogée ou De Baudrillard à Houellebecq

  • Publication type: Article from a collective work
  • Collective work:
L’Unité de l’œuvre de Michel Houellebecq
  • Author: Buvik (Per)
  • Abstract: The initial hypothesis of this article is that an implicit dialogue with Jean Baudrillard exists in Houellebecq’s work, particularly in La Carte et le territoire. Far from subscribing to the sociologist’s idea of the absolute domination of simulation in contemporary society, Houellebecq nevertheless maintains a distinction between reality and its representation. His realism even presupposes that there is always a reality or a part of reality which is unseizable.
