- Abstract: The pen name Marius-Ary Leblond was used by two cousins from Réunion – Georges Athénas and Aimé Merlo – who were practitioners and theorists of a literary category in-the-marking : French colonial literature. This article charts their efforts to codify and canonize this literature. To ensure the legitimacy of the new literature of “Greater France”, the Leblonds also set out to revise the national literary canon.
