Barrès : un romancier populaire ?
- Publication type: Article from a collective work
- Collective work: L’Idée de littérature à l’épreuve des arts populaires (1870-1945)
- Author: Rambaud (Vital)
- Abstract: Barrès is not known as a popular novelist. Whether as a consequence or reflection of his political commitments, popular forms do nonetheless occupy, ideologically, a central place in a number of his novels. In certain novels, he turns to themes and conventions belonging to popular literature. And with a novel like Colette Baudoche, we see him become a novelist not only of characters with links to the working classes, but also of a region.
