- Abstract: What’s Bred in the Bone by Robertson Davies and My Name is Red by Orhan Pamuk are both novels built as thrillers, in which the solution is revealed through the interpretation of paintings. This paper argues that interpretation requires different levels of reading, and unsettles the meaning of images and texts.
