- Abstract: The gesta abbatum of Conques constitutes a brief historiographic work written around 1100. It is made up of a series of notices corresponding to the succession of abbots. The article analyses the relationship between this work and the cartulary also established at this time, as well as the pseudo precept of King Pépin of Aquitaine. It then identifies the objectives of the historiographer and the way in which he constructs his historical discourse with the aim of being authoritative.
