- Author: Habib (Claude)
- Abstract: The accident of Ménilmontant has been often been compared with a passage of The Essays in which Montaigne recounts how he fell from his horse. This article reopens the chapter of that classical comparison. While Montaigne discovers in his unconscious state a lesson on death, Rousseau experiences a most pleasurable reawakening that both confirms his philosophy and erases the limits of the Self.
