- Abstract: Huysmans’s work has close ties with Latin, the language of foundational texts but also a liturgical language, connected with the sacred. This study reflects on the author’s different perspectives on Latinity, the lingua latina, classical writers, and the “Catholic idiom”. How can these different perspectives allow us to define Huysmans’s aesthetic indirectly, and its constant desire to rethink codes and genres?
