- Abstract: Lexical research constitutes the of meat of Huysmans’s literary project and connects him with the prose poem. Moreover, it is by pulling writing towards painting that the writer searches for the “distilled sap” of literature. We thus observe in his texts numerous pictorial descriptions linked partly with the writing of the artist, the “trinket style” claimed by the author. Painting inscribes itself notably in the writing of the Drageoir aux Épices and La Retraite de Monsieur Bougran.
