- Abstract: In Croquis parisiens, Huysmans explores the frontiers and margins of the realist novel and the prose poem, but he does so from the territory of the novelist, not the poet, which explains the hybridity of these pieces. A “poetics of subjectivation” (Vaillant) expresses itself in allegorical responses and the construction of landscapes of the soul. The writer preserves the images of a world in the process of disappearing and allegorises in these landscapes the malaise of the contemplator.
