Abstract: An Anglo-Norman translation of the Historia regum Britanniae by Geoffroy de Monmouth, the Geste des Bretuns, edited here for the first time, is the only work of French medieval literature in which the deeds of King Arthur are sung in alexandrine laisses, while employing the techniques of the chanson de geste.
