Abstract: The publication of Anna Moi’s Riz Noir, based on the true story of her friend Thieu Thi Tan, resulted in a lawsuit for invasion of privacy by her I-narrator. This study investigates the genre confusion of Riz noir, caught in its ambivalent peritext and narrative voices between fiction and real-life experience.
