  • Abstract: In 2014 at the Avignon Festival Thomas Jolly staged, in their entirety, all three parts of Shakespeare’s Henry VI. Jolly was not only co-responsible for the lighting design, but he also acted in the show, a production that aroused considerable enthusiasm, even though it ran for 18 hours with 7 intervals. Rehearsals began in 2010 and Part One opened in 2012. This essay not only traces its creative process, but also discusses the production itself, which teemed with playful ideas, always in the service of the text.
