- Abstract: This article shows, through an examination of the historical voyage of Dietrich’s stage performances launched in variety shows and cabarets how theatrical space and performance unfolded in the cinematic space and how the cabaret as a modern cultural site enables Dietrich to expand her space of performance cinematically by instrumentalizing the decayed aura of her own theatrical performance.
