- Abstract: The Persian novel Leili and Majnun by Nezami (twelfth century) deviates from its Arab model. Althouhg the madness of Majnun progressively marginalizes him, he compensates his failure by a sublimation of his love. Unreason leads here to holiness and to the « blessed impassiveness of the wise ».
