• Abstract: Among the many texts Kant devoted to the relationship between morality and religion and to the articulation of pure rational practical faith and historical doctrinal faith, three letters to Fichte, Reuss and Staeudlin (1792-1793), contemporary to the writing of the Religion innerhalb der Grenzen der blossen Vernunft, illustrate Kant’s original position within the German Enlightenment. These letters emphasize the academic and institutional stakes of the debate between faith and reason.
