- Abstract: The category “totalitarianism” ought not be confused with the various forms of tyranny. Is it not the modern democratic state that, by liberating itself from the theologico-political discourse of the ancients, has facilitated the emergence of the totalitarian state, even as the result of its own internal contradictions ? Although foreshadowed in utopian writings, it does not appear to have succeeded in establishing itself properly in history. However, is it not currently in the process of being transformed through “post-state” structures and osmosis into the community itself ?
