- Abstract: After having given some context to the question of slavery in the Arabic-Muslim world, this study journeys through Les Mille et une nuits in order to identify the principal tendencies of the representation of slavery in Arabic literature. Attention will be paid both to the typology of slaves and to the ideology which is inherent in it, also with regard to Orientalist reception.
