• Abstract: In the elliptical world of Chevillard’s “novels of novels”, whose characters are mainly figures of the writer, nothing is more tempting than to propose a metatextual reading of the novels of the author of Mourir m’enrhume. This article devotes itself to this hypothesis by defending the thesis that, perhaps more than that of any other contemporary author, Chevillard’s œuvre talks only of its own possibility, its own function, its own object, its own meaning.
