Abstract: Since 1993, the year King Kong came out in the cinema, the film has given rise to many echos. Kong, the simian monster and his habitat, are so many images to be placed in relation to works from the eighteenth to the twentieth century. The emergence of the figure of King-Kong sets in motion a myth established in the collective imagination, but the various cinematographic reinterpretations of the myth change its meaning. Starting out as a dream monster, the gorilla has become a very special animal.
