Abstract: Two previously unpublished texts on the American Revolution provide us with an undiscovered dialogue between two generations of economists on the eve of the French Revolution. The reflections of the Marquis de Mirabeau on the declaration of the rights of Virginia and the critical remarks of Du Pont de Nemours shed new light on physiocracy.
