Abstract: Despite the generic difference, there are many similarities between the Mémoires (1710-1711) of Mme du Noyer and her Lettres historiques et galantes (seven volumes of anecdotes from 1707 to 1717), particularly with regard to the writing process. The evolution perceptible in the LHG can be put down to her editorial work on periodicals from 1710-1711 : it also results from the autobiographical subject matter initially prepared for the Mémoires but reused here as a hook for readers.
