Abstract: The Chevalier de Bellerive is best known for his writings on the Duc de Vendôme. These amount to real Mémoires of the Duc, mixing personal memories with testimonials from third parties. At the same time, a lack of material forced Bellerive to copy from other works, while his own bias led him to censor himself so well that the complete edition of his principal work never saw the light of day.
