- Abstract: The notion of the “fragment” is not to be found in the work of Anton Francesco Doni (1513-1574), the principal author of Italian fiction of the Cinquecento. However, [his] work reveals a deliberate, systematic, fragmentary practice, which conceives of itself in terms of a work written in “morsels”, at once unseen and part of the prolonging of a particular mode of Renaissance.
