  • Abstract: To fight against the harmful fragmentation of European law, juridical codes were invented at the end of the eighteenth century. This invention implied a shake-up of the very status of law, the nature of law, and its anthropological function. The observation of this process illuminates literary history: the concept of the ideal work is radically opposed to that of fragmentary writing.
