• Abstract: Mes Pensées, a work book that Montesquieu kept for his own personal use, is exemplary of a certain form of fragmentary writing. Far from forming a homogenous whole, it is a question of an ensemble of editorial singularities which unveil the way thought is established and expression constantly worked away at well in advance of any predefined literary construction. The aim of this communication is to study the poetics of the non-said in this complex and multiform work.
