Abstract: By producing two successive comedies, Le Railleur and Le Véritable Capitan Matamore, André Mareschal makes his contribution to the renewal of the comic genre in the 1630's and rivals the most talented playwrights of the period, Corneille, Rotrou and Desmarets de Saint-Sorlin.
