• Abstract: My main concern here is the relevance of Cioran’s philosophy of history and culture for our current understanding of the Columbian state and culture. Since I became especially interested in these matters, what caught my attention in the French translation of Transfiguration de la Roumanie were some moral and cognitive similarities between some of Cioran’s angry protestations and diatribes and our own preoccupations and frustration with our current national situation.
