• Abstract: Reflecting on lamentations inevitably leads to a reflection on the broken condition of human existence, and is a way to explore its deficiencies. This paper demonstrates diverse lamentations (requests, queries, reproaches, curses or protests against the sea), reflecting on the main reasons for the lamentation (desire, immortality or death). This is further developed in their diverse contexts: music, religion, philosophy and, above all, poetry.
