- Abstract: This article presents the lamentations in Cioran’s correspondence with those close to him by starting to question if there is a connection between the Transylvanian popular bocet (funeral song) and the lamentation. Cioran’s lamentation evolves between paroxysmal expressions, evinced from the emotional storm characteristic of the youthful period, and that punished form, brilliantly concise, which recalls the aphorism, in his mature period.
