Abstract: Published in 1979, Le Règne de la critique [The Reign of Criticism] is the translation of the redrafted version of the doctoral thesis entitled Kritik und Krise [Criticism and Crisis] that Reinhart Koselleck had supported in 1954. In this essay, the German historian does not deal exactly with state censorship, nor with the clandestine writings that got around it; but several key ideas that he develops are useful to rethink these phenomenon. To read again Kosseleck today, can lead us to revise some of his statements; it is also a stimulating opportunity to have at our time another critical look.
