- Abstract: Tristan L’Hermite was conscientious about his writing practices. Even if he didn’t theorize them, he reflected on them in Le Page disgracié, whose specularity is even more metapoetic than it is autobiographical. In it, he comes across as a purist using a language whose principles rest upon the edifice of rhetoric, a purist who questions the pertinence of lexical material and consolidates into a concise form ethical and pragmatic values that we find elsewhere in his prose and verse.
