• Abstract: The writing methods of Dumur’s Russian tetralogy focus their effects on a society established by Bolshevik power. There are two reasons for this. First, a literary reason: condemnation of the “loups rouges” allows –a contrario– two characters central to the tetralogy to be allegorized. Second, a political reason: the most pressing danger being the evolution of Soviet society –perhaps a simple rehashing of history, however recent, might impede it.
