- Abstract: In Giraudoux’s essays there is what we might call a politics of style, evidenced by the will to give (back) some sense to a world that seems to have been stripped of all meaning. Thus images—comparisons and metaphors—allow one to interpret situations that seem unprecedented. The search for harmony to which his prose testifies shows that, according to Giraudoux, there is a world-order that is violated by reality, but which nevertheless remains ever-present in the background of his political writings.
