- Abstract: This article aims to study three rewrites - found in Neo-Latin plays and, later, in a French one - of an ancient, facetious text, the monologue of Cleaereta (Plautus, Asinaria). By transposing the words of the madam into various contexts or by modifying them, the authors take pleasure in the confusion of comical and farcical models and create a cheerful complicity with their expert public. In this way, it is the very act of writing a comedy that becomes, for them, a facetious gesture.
