• Abstract: This contribution considers the writing of René d’Anjou, from Mortifiement de vaine plaisance (1455) to Livre du cœur d’amour épris (1457) and explores the relevant detail of the ruin’s topical description. The detail contributes to the work’s hermeneutic, but it also works as a narrative matrix. Beyond the gap between the sentiments and registers of two prosimetric forms, the detail shares the signification (senefiance) of a work where the possibilities of multiple readings abound.
