• Abstract: Urbano is an anonymous novel that was undoubtedly written in the late fourteenth century. It has appeared in several more or less different versions, in particular an Italian edition in 1526, a French translation in the 1530s, and an anonymous adaptation in 1784. To find out how the text was received, it is most useful to examine the question of detail: the very minor elements selected in the story of Urbano and the value placed on them vary from one writer-receiver to another.
