• Abstract: Composed by Pierre Durand shortly before 1530, the prose version of Guillaume de Palerne presents many features worth of interest; this article analyses in particular the terms in which the author intervenes in the text, to refer to his verse model and to ­comment on the new romance he is in the process of ­constructing. As a result of these interventions, the prosateur is very much a presence in his text, and one ready to share with his readers his own moral interpretation of the story.
