- Abstract: This article presents an edition of various autograph letters written in 1494 by Giulia Farnese and her mother-in-law Adriana Orsini Mila that were addressed to Pope Alexander VI (Rodrigo Borgia), as well as a linguistic analysis of the main graphic, phonetic, morphological and lexical features of these letters. Following on from a study carried out by the same scholar in 2004 on the language of correspondence addressed to the Pope by Lucrezia Borgia and her mother Vannozza Cattanei, this article aims primarily at providing a further useful tool for reconstructing the varieties of written language used by women between the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries; it also represents an opportunity to undertake a broader consideration of the practice of writing and the acquisition of reference models by female members of the Roman papal court at the end of the fifteenth century.
