• Abstract: This essay explores the relationship between Baudelaire’s poetry (especially Les Fleurs du mal) and some aspects of gnosis: the fall, the opacity of the world, the world as evil, the loss of perfection, the presence of the angel. Although the scope of the paper is not, however, to define Baudelaire’s gnostic doctrine, but rather to consider some elements, also formal in nature, subtly present in representations of western gnosis.
