- Abstract: This article offers a critical analysis of the USITO dictionary, focusing on the representation that is given of Quebec French and on its normative approach. It tackles more specifically the following aspects: the initial project and realization thereof, compared with Le Petit Robert’s treatment of Quebecisms, consideration of literary language, etymology and history of the language, additions to the dictionary (lists and notes), French description from a Quebec perspective, identifying Quebecisms and Francisms, processing statalisms, corrective method (familiar words, neutral words and Anglicisms).
