• Abstract: Specialized words represent a high percentage of those which go to make up Spanish dictionaries, although there are noticeable inconsistencies in the way terms have been registered in different terminological areas, especially regarding their lexicographic labels. This article will analyze what has happened to veterinary terms in the Dictionary of the Royal Spanish Academy (DRAE). The historical research allows us to understand the inconsistencies that linger within the DRAE (inconsistencies that might be transmitted to other Spanish lexicographical works).
